Link Roundup: Make Up

Happy Thursday! I hope everyone’s day has been great so far. These are some links that y’all may find interesting:

the scary truth behind my cosmetics… and why I’ve ditched foundation: A while back I skimmed the topic of natural make up, but didn’t go in depth. This blog post from Sarah Wilson talks about the results of her toxin tests and makes a much more compelling argument than I could.

Other great posts by Wilson:
how to detox your beauty cupboard
the best (safest) cosmetics: a list
the best toxin-free cosmetics: a listicle
the best toxin-free cosmetics: a listicle (part II)

No More Dirty Looks:  This is a blog from the writers of the book of the same name all about natural make up. I haven’t read the book, but it sounds like it could be The Jungle of the make up industry. They provide reviews, tips, and the comments are a great resource as well.

The Safe Cosmetics Act: “The Safe Cosmetics Act of 2011 is designed to give the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authority to ensure that personal care products are free of harmful ingredients and that ingredients are fully disclosed.” As of now, the FDA has no say in what goes in make up- it could even be a proven carcinogen and it can’t do anything.
